 Doramaschinos is a new comedy opera that recently made its international debut in Toronto. It is the follow up todoramaschinos, the first comedy series on the air in Greece. The director is Dimitrios Giannakas and the cast is composed of: Yianna Milavraso and Alyson Hill. You can expect some good laughs from this new series which revolves around a fictional Greek town called Doramaschinos. The doramaschinos story is about two lovers who are forced by circumstance to marry each other despite their convictions for sacrilegious behavior.

This humorous opera includes music from the hit opera by Enzo that went on to become an instant hit. The songs from Enzo that were used were: "Master of the Feast", "My Decalogue", "The Claddagh Banner" and "The Singing Butler". The cast also includes: Yanaou Bayourg, Christos Gavarini and Sascha Gounaris. The theme of the doramaschinos was inspired by the legendary novel as written by George MacDonald, which was entitled "The Book of Songs". "Qinjunjie" is the most well known of all the songs from the novel and is sung by Yanaou Bayourg.

The story begins with Yanaou Bayourg, son of a poor family, being captured by terrorists and thrown into a slave ship to serve the crew. He ends up being sold as a cook to a very rich family. But when the family abandons him and sends him on to sea, he gets separated from his wife and daughter and taken on a raft on which he survives for months. When they return, they give him a new name - Don Juan - because he survived for so long and they finally return to retrieve him and bring him back to their home.

Although he survived for such a long time, Don Juan quickly falls into disrepair. During this time, two ships are sent to pick up several other survivors of the ordeal and they too end up stranded in the ocean. One of the ships sinks while the others are taken on board the ships belonging to the pirates.

The novel ends with the pirates providing Don Juan with money to buy food for his starving family and then selling his own daughter into slavery. On the brink of death, he finally escapes from the pirates and returns to his old doramaschinos to die. This is where the story turns grimly tragic. Although he dies a noble death, he leaves a painful void that infects all those who come in contact with him.

The writer of the story, Mario Yepes, did not like the idea of his book ending with a tragedy. He felt it was better to have the last lines of the novel be a celebration of life instead of a lament for a lost cause. In order to satisfy his need to leave a happy ending, Yepes borrowed the idea of giving a doramaschinos doll to his readers at the end of each chapter. He then set sail for the Caribbean and forgot about the story for nearly forty years. However, when he discovered that some of his relatives in the Philippines had gotten themselves a doramaschinos doll as a remembrance of the times that they were together, he felt like he had done right by them and felt he deserved a doramaschinos doll for himself.
