Pinoy Ako Dramas

In the year 2021, the Philippines was hit by an enormous natural disaster - the Y2K. This created many problems and danger to life and property in the country. The search for a safe place to stay had become very difficult, so many and Filipino families who had their own homes in the mainland USA decided to migrate to the Philippines. There they found a safe haven in the cities of Tagaytay, Davao, and Manila - the first immigrants of the new American country.

After successfully assimilating in the cities, the immigrants started searching for a place to worship. Their first stop was the Church of San Lorenzo in Tagaytay, which is the oldest Catholic Church in the Philippines and the spiritual center of Filipinos in general. The Pinoy Ako Association also worships here. This is where the birth of the first Filipino song, Ang Giyempo (I'm From The East) by Pinoy Ako (daughter of the Ako family), was penned.

On the day of its release, this song became viral and was the talk of the town. Since then, it has gone on to become the national song of the Philippines. Not only that, the song has been adapted to other genres of music such as rock, rap, ballad, folk, and cholinero, and even into lyrics and into dances. Today, the lyrics are updated to reflect the changing times and to reflect the changing values of the Filipinos. For instance, one line from the song says, "Dependent upon the grace of God, let the victim lives."

Aside from singing, the Ako family has also done kung ano ang kaya mo (walk to the sick). This tradition started with the Pinoy Ako during his visit to Germany, USA, in the year 1986. He was walking on the ramp of the airplane and the sickness struck him down. He was carried by his family to the nearest hospital in Tagaytay but received no treatment there.

To show their support for the native tongue, the Ako family has made trips to China, Japan, and Korea. They have also joined the Pinoy American Student Association, which is affiliated with the American Red Cross. The Pinoy American Association is very active in disseminating information on diseases and health problems prevalent in the Filipino people, especially among the young ones. They have also opened the Manila chapter of the International Rescue Committee for AIDS and HIV. This chapter is open to those from foreign countries who wish to lend a hand to the Filipino people in combating the AIDS and HIV epidemic.

The Pinoy American Association and the Global AIDS Foundation were among the first NGOs to be established after the declaration of the World Health Organization's declaration that AIDS is a global problem. They are still working hard in fighting this alarming disease. Through these efforts, the Ako family and the entire Filipino society have gained much hope and new faith in one another.
